Hair Care

  • Maintaining your hair extensions
Always use a wide tooth brush or comb, to gently style your hair from the tips of the hair to the root or weft small sections at a time. For curlier textures, always de-tangle when the hair is wet using a conditioner. It is recommended a deep conditioning treatment is applied every 4 to 6 weeks to ensure bundles are kept moisturised. To prevent tangling, minimize brushing and combing once the hair is dry.
  • Washing
Hair should be held or tied at the weft prior to washing. Gently massage a sulphate free shampoo into the hair when washing. Use only lukewarm water and do not rub the hair together!! After a lather is formed, rinse the hair and repeat the process until the water runs clear. Follow this up with a moisture rich conditioner and leave it to soak for 15 – 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and let it air dry. Repeat this every 4 to 6 weeks for longer lasting hair.
  • Co- Washing
Apply a significant amount of conditioner and work it through the bundle after wetting the hair with luke-warm water. Do not rub the hair together!! Rinse the hair and repeat the process until the water runs clear, then let air dry.
  • Deep Conditioning
Wet hair with lukewarm water. After applying a significant amount of conditioner to the extensions, de-tangle from the tip and work your way up to the root of the bundle. Let the extensions soak for 30 - 45 mins. Rinse the hair thoroughly until the water runs clear, then let air dry.
  • Storing your hair extensions
We take immense pride in our packaging and have as a result designed it not only for its aesthetic properties but also for its practicality. Minx hair recommends you store your hair bundles in the satin pouches provided when not in use.
  • Daily Maintenance
Brush the hair in a downward motion only, using a paddle brush or a wide tooth comb starting at the tips and working up to the weft/root to avoid unnecessary breakage. To avoid heat damage, ensure a small amount of heat protectant is always applied to the hair prior to styling for a healthy shine. When using oils, we recommend a serum and only a tiny bit to avoid weighing down the hair. Ensure your hair is covered with a satin or silk bonnet when you sleep to reduce friction.
  • Styling
The use of excessive heat on your bundles is strongly discouraged as this can shorten the hairs lifespan, cause dryness and loosen the curls. If heat is to be used always use a heat protectant when applying heat, as heat damage can also happen to virgin hair. For curly hair, use a spritzer bottle containing water to lightly spritz the hair and run your fingers through it to de-tangle and define the curls.
